Fitted Kitchen Design
Kitchen Design Guide
Kitchens come in all shapes and sizes and it is important that you choose the most efficient kitchen shape.
Kitchen shapes include
L-Shaped Kitchens,
U-Shaped Kitchens and
Galley Kitchens.
Whether you have a large kitchen or a small kitchen, KBBC kitchen designers will help you plan your kitchen design so that you maximise your kitchen storage space. Our free kitchen design service will enable you to ensure that your kitchen design is as efficient as possible.
The aim of a good kitchen design is to make sure that food preparation, cooking area and the kitchen sink are not be too far apart. A good kitchen design will place the fridge between the main entrance and the main cooking area. Placing the fridge in this location provides easy access. Please try and avoid locating the fridge or freezer next to the kitchen hob or oven as this will reduce the efficiency of your kitchen appliances.
The first step to
kitchen design is to find out how much floor space is available for you to work with.
In order to do this, you need to take accurate measurements of the length and width of your kitchen, in millimetres. Then on the provided scaled grid paper, draw up the outline of the kitchen area. Also, jot down the position of any objects that may affect the way in which you lay out the
kitchen design, e.g. doors, windows, plug points, piping, boilers etc.
New Kitchen Design

In order to help you plan a
new kitchen design, we can provide a
kitchen design grid and scale templates that you can print off and cut out. You can move kitchen items about and play around until you come with the right
kitchen design. Remember to allow a small space in between walls so that everything can fit in comfortably. It is important that you note down the height of any windows and ceilings, sloping ones in particular.
KBBC offer a free kitchen design service so we are happy to help you plan and design your new kitchen.
Kitchen Design Plan
When it comes to making a
kitchen design plan, the possibilities are endless. The best way to come up with the perfect
kitchen design is to take your time, play around with different ideas and explore! Aesthetics are important, but think about practicality and comfort. Yes, everyone would like to have a kitchen that looks nice, but it would be even better to have a kitchen that is also easy to work around. Do take into consideration, the amount of space you may require around kitchen appliances, in order to perform kitchen tasks comfortably.

Check which way
kitchen doors and drawers open in order for them to open fully.
Any tall units should be placed next to each other; tall units usually go at the end of a line of cupboards.
Position kitchen cupboards so that they are easily accessible.
