Bedroom design trend: The divan ★★★★★
Published on: 22/06/2010
Choosing somewhere to rest heads at night is one of the most important parts of a bedroom design project but homeowners may like to note that raised sleeping areas are off trend, while divans are in right now.
According to the Guardian, such options were a prominent feature at this year's Milan furniture fair and Sarah Slade, editor at Elle Decoration, noted that the lines between bed and living rooms are "blurring".
"We're spending a lot more time at home these days," she remarked. "It's all about cocooning."
Ms Slade continued, telling the publication that this fashion originally began in lounges where sofas grew in size and could accommodate long naps, while the bed is now fast becoming people's hang out area of choice.
Meanwhile, those involved in bedroom planning projects might be interested to hear that designer Lisa LaPorta recently told the Herald & Review that interior decorating can become personal and funky again.
