Coloured units 'popular in kitchen design'

Homeowners giving their kitchens a makeover are increasingly leaning towards cabinets with a colourful finish, an expert has suggested.
Speaking to the Poughkeepsie Journal, Kate Talbott of US firm Millbrook Cabinetry and Design explained that while white kitchen units are always popular, yellows and soft blues and greens are also being seen in more kitchens.
Furthermore, this trend for colourful kitchen design extends to worktops, with red, blue and green counters being snapped up by homeowners.
"But granite countertops are still super popular and we're doing more unusual granites," Ms Talbott commented.
"Granite doesn't have to look like what most people think of ... there are so many different colours and veining patterns."
Large, professional-style stainless steel kitchen appliances are another kitchen design trend currently being seen by experts, she added.
Bill Tanasse of Key Builders recently told GLWoman that more and more people are opting for luxurious new kitchens as they eschew moving home in favour of staying put.
