Experts: Decide on kitchen appliances before beginning renovation

This is according to architects Ann Robinson and Annie Schwemmer, who write in a column for the Deseret News that it is strongly recommended consumers choose the exact kitchen appliances they want - including the colour - to avoid extra expenses.

"It helps you to avoid costly change orders during the project and delays once construction starts," they explain.

Ms Robinson and Ms Schwemmer go on to note that it is necessary to know the exact size of kitchen appliances such as fridges to ensure kitchen design plans include the correct measurements and to allow homeowners to coordinate other white goods, kitchen units and accessories.

Another reason why choosing the right appliances before beginning building work is important may be to ensure that the electrical points and plumbing in the kitchen are in the right place so that they allow cooks to easily go between the fridge, cooker and sink - the most important parts of the kitchen.
