Make kitchen design personal, experts suggest

Homeowners looking to make their new kitchen unique should ensure it reflects the family's personality, it has been suggested.
Speaking to the Today newspaper, Ultimate Interior Creation director Cecilia Huang said kitchen design should focus on the habits of the family, as well as on which parts of the room are likely to be used the most.
"Let your personal character blend into the design of your kitchen," she commented.
"The kitchen shouldn't just be practical and functional - it also should have an aesthetic factor that you would love."
Mei Teh of Rezt & Relax added that more homeowners are looking for spacious kitchens, preferably with enough room for a large island unit.
The designer advised using solid colours for kitchen units and ensuring kitchen appliances are the right size for a particular layout.
TV property expert Phil Spencer recently told the Telegraph that homeowners looking to boost their house's value should focus on the kitchen, as it is the "showpiece" of the home.
Some of the ways in which the kitchen could be improved include installing up-to-date equipment and enabling easy access between the sink, fridge and cooker, he said.
