Reflect personality with the right kitchen colour ★★★★★
Published on: 02/08/2010
Choosing the right colour scheme for a new kitchen design can help to add personality to this part of the home, experts say.
Speaking to the Post-Crescent, interior designer Susan Barker explains that people tend to choose colours based on who they are.
For example, someone who does not like change might opt for classic colours that do not date, such as navy and tan, while another person with an outgoing and vibrant personality may opt for bright red.
Bridgett Ellis of MimiWorks adds that it is also possible to inject personality into the home with the help of artwork and accessories such as window treatments and lamps.
"Artwork is a very simple step to add some character to a space," she comments.
According to La Luminata magazine, some of the main colour trends for the home - including kitchens - in 2010 consist of design schemes focusing on earthy tones contrasted with pinks, pale golds and ambers.
