Integrated kitchen appliances 'a hot new trend'

When it comes to filling their new kitchens, consumers are increasingly being won over by hi-tech, integrated appliances, it has been reported.
In particular, the current trend is towards blending equipment such as fridges and dishwashers with cabinets and work-tops, creating a seamless room that is both aesthetically-pleasing and highly functional, the Calgary Herald noted.
Speaking to the newspaper, Trail Appliances sales manager Michael Seens explained that such integration is becoming increasingly important, with many consumers now basing their choice of appliance or work surface on how well it fits in with the rest of the room.
"A lot of trends have gone to what we call integrated appliances - appliances that will blend into your cabinetry completely," he said.
"You're seeing a pretty good selection of ways you can hide your appliances into your cabinetry."
At the same time, the newspaper also highlighted the growing popularity of futuristic devices such as extra-rapid, induction stovetops that can boil water in record time and speed ovens that make use of magnetic fields to cook food.
News of these trends comes after Berlin hosted the IFA electronic show, where devices that will fill the new kitchens of the future were unveiled to the world.
