Bespoke kitchen designs 'perfect in period properties'

As any homeowner who lives in a period property will know, the very features that make their home so striking can make redecorating difficult.
This is particularly true in the kitchen, where most standard fitted cabinets require a straightforward shape.
Fortunately, as kitchen designer Patrick Gunning points out, bespoke kitchens can be created to help families achieve their dream kitchen, whether they have slanted walls, uneven floors or ceiling beams.
"The beauty of bespoke is that the cabinetry can be made to work with the original features rather than the other way round and it needn't be a costly option," the expert explained.
Going bespoke also enables homeowners to maximise their space. For example, if they have high ceilings, a common feature in period properties, floor-to-ceiling kitchen units will ensure there is no wasted space.
"Have the wall units fitted right up to the ceiling, and store your least-used kitchenware safely out of the way," Mr Gunning recommended.
