Top tips for retro-chic kitchen design

This is according to Getdecorating.com, which notes in a column for the Daily Breeze that sophisticated kitchen design with a nod to the past should focus on "sleek" kitchen appliances with a stainless steel finish, as well as white units with a traditional feel.

Dark-stained hardwood flooring, a family eating area with white padded bar stools and taupe tiling complete the retro-chic look with contrasting colours that are unlikely to date.

"Wooden stools add a hint of rural charm to the cabinetry's simple, unadorned lines, while four railway lanterns recall the romance of bygone eras," Getdecorating.com says.

Vintage accessories and posters with an edgy design could also help to complete this look for kitchens, as could window dressings with a traditional look and a classic colour scheme for the walls.
